Catherine Frances Zurga, age 83, of Beaver Falls, Pa, passed away on Tuesday, March 2, 2021 at Good Samaritan Hospice in Heritage Valley Beaver.
Catherine was born July 6, 1937, in Beaver Falls, Pa, to the late Louis & Joanna (Klepic) Zurga. After graduating from Mount Gallitzin Academy, Catherine continued her education at Providence Hospital School of Nursing. Upon receiving her degree, she began her career as a registered nurse. Catherine continued her career for over 40 years until her retirement in 1999 from The Medical Center, where she worked in the pediatric unit and nursery. She touched many lives and mentored many nurses during her long career. She was an avid reader, animal lover and sports fan. Above all else, Catherine was a kind and caring woman to all she met. She devoted her life to others both professionally and personally. A compassionate and empathetic woman, she lived by the words, “There but for the grace of God, go I.” Her faith in Jesus was unwavering. She was loved and respected by all. Catherine will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her brother, Eugene Zurga, Indiana, Pa; her niece and caretaker, Mary Jo Johnson, Beaver Falls, Pa; and numerous other nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Louis, Kenneth and Thomas Zurga; her dear sister, Rose Mary Orosz; and her great nephew, Thomas Orosz.
Due to the covid-19 pandemic, the visitation and funeral mass will be private.
The family would like to thank Good Samaritan Hospice for the great care and compassion they gave to Catherine. A special thank you to Kathleen Daniels, RN, for going above and beyond her role to help Catherine and her family.
