Faye I. Grau

Faye I. Grau, age 96, of Beaver Falls, died on November 16, 2023. She was born in West Mayfield on December 26, 1926 and was the daughter of the late Charles and Vera E. Middeke Portman. Faye was married for 54 years to Edward “Pete” W. Grau, who died on December 12, 2002.

A lifelong native of Beaver County, Faye was born in West Mayfield to Charles and Vera Middeke Portman, along with her six siblings. She graduated from Beaver Falls High School in 1944 and received her RN in Nursing in 1948.

Her career as a nurse covered working at various hospitals, home health care and eldercare. She loved her work and was often the unofficial health advisor in whatever neighborhood she lived. She was a people person who had never met a stranger and her compassion was well known.

She is survived by her children, Edward A. (Pam) Grau of Commerce City, CO; Susan (David) Orochena of Potomac, MD; grandsons, Marcus; Max; Nick Orochena; and several nieces and nephews.

Faye was an avid sportsperson and loved and played golf into her 80’s. She also loved to play bridge, crochet, and work on any kind of word or jigsaw puzzle. She loved to read and was never without a book. The last thing she wanted to do was “sit around like a lump of dough.”

Family and friends will gather at Campbell's Chippewa Funeral Home, Inc., 2618 Darlington Road, Chippewa Twp., PA 15010, on Monday November 20, 2023 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., when services will be held in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow.
