Gregory Charles Higgins, 61, of Beaver Falls, passed away on May 12, 2022, after a brief illness.
Greg was born the third of four boys, to Elvira “Evy” and Charles “Raab” Higgins on January 16, 1961, in The City of Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania. He was an industrious blue-collar man with a fierce love for his family and their traditions. Greg lived his life with a casual exuberance and a sense of humor that resulted in many loyal and lifelong friendships.
Greg was a graduate of Beaver Falls High School Class of 1979, a member of St. Mary’s Church and the Owls Club of Beaver Falls. He didn’t like to sit still and over the years took up residence in Florida, Nevada, and California. Regardless of distance, Greg would call his family regularly just to make sure everyone was okay and ultimately moved back to the area to be closer to them. Not much made him happier than his entire extended family sitting around the table at Sunday dinner. All were welcome.
Most recently, Greg worked for The Beaver County Times and was the owner of Lucky Lottery (Leetsdale, PA), and Sweet Treat Vending.
Greg was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Elvira, and his brother, John “Chief” Higgins. Along with his son, Shane, he is survived by his brother’s Steve and Chris Higgins; his sister-in-law Sally Higgins; nieces Stephanie (Allen) Johnson, Kacie (Joshua) Eckelberger, Leslie (Frank) Klutka, Tara Higgins, and great nieces and nephews Bronson, Bryar, Haven, Lily, and Evangeline. Greg was engaged to be married and is also survived in faith by his fiancé, Cheryl Beckner. He was loved dearly by her children and grandchildren as well.
The family would like to thank the doctors and staff at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital of Pittsburgh, UPMC Shadyside Hospital, and the compassionate staff of Good Samaritan Hospice (Beaver County). Special thanks also go to The Club Hope Foundation, dear friend Brian Teck, and all of Greg’s friends in and around the community as well as the Owl’s Club who gave tirelessly in support of Greg’s cancer battle.
At the request of our loved one, there will be no visitation. A funeral mass will take place on Tuesday, May 17th at 10:00am at St. Monica Roman Catholic Parish-116 Thorndale Rd., Beaver Falls, PA 15010 (across from Yolanda’s Chippewa). Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Friends and loved ones are welcome to join the family in honoring Greg’s memory.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Greg’s name to The Club Hope Foundation www.clubhopefoundation.com
