In Loving Memory of Kimberly (Kym) Kay Gack (Smith)
Kimberly (Kym) Kay Gack (Smith), age 62, went to be with her Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, on September 19, 2026, at Allegheny General Hospital after her battle with stage 4 lung cancer. She was surrounded by the love that will forever remain a part of her story.
Above all else, Kimberly loved Jesus. Her faith was an important part of who she was, and her greatest hope was found in the promise of eternal life with her Savior. Though her earthly journey has come to an end, the love she gave, the memories she created, and the mark she left on the hearts of those who knew her will never fade.
Kimberly was a woman of many layers. She was kind and sensitive, introspective and creative, with a fiery spirit and a stubborn streak that was every bit as much a part of her as her generous heart. She was direct, honest, and never one to waste words. She had a wonderful sense of humor that could bring laughter into even the most ordinary moments.
Beneath that fire was a woman who felt deeply, cared greatly, and carried more than many people ever knew. Kimberly bore her own burdens, often quietly, and continued to show up for the people she loved. She was strong in ways that were not always visible, sensitive in ways that were not always spoken, and loving in ways that will be remembered long after the tears have dried.
Her greatest love on this earth was her family. Kimberly shared 43 years of marriage with her beloved husband, Bill Gack Jr. Their life together was filled with years of memories, challenges, laughter, and a bond built over decades. She treasured her daughters and her grandchildren, who brought a special kind of love and joy into her life. She loved the years of homeschooling her girls, pool parties, and everything that came with being a mom. She loved being "Mimi" just as equally as motherhood, and enjoyed teaching her grandbabies how to bake, how to make piñata's, crafting, and playing Bluey Scavenger Hunt. Her grandbabies held a precious place in her heart, and the love she poured into her family will continue through the generations that follow her.
Kym had a gift for making life richer in the ways that mattered to her. She was an amazing cook who appreciated fine dining, exceptional food, and the pleasure of a meal made with care. She loved gardening, creating beauty from the earth with her own hands, and she had a creative spirit that found expression in the things she did and the life she built. She adored her cats, who were more than pets; they were part of her home and her heart.
She was wonderfully human, unapologetically herself, and unforgettable to those fortunate enough to truly know her.
Kimberly was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Kathleen A. Smith and Wesley W. Smith, and her brother, Scott A. Smith.
She leaves behind her devoted husband of 43 years, Bill George Gack Jr.; her loving daughters, Candice (David) Kathleen Matie (Gack); and Erin (Ryan) Nicholle Wagster (Gack); her cherished grandchildren, Ava; Andrew; Logan; William; and Kathleen; her sister, Amy Noel Smith; sister-in-law, Terry Smith; nephew, Ryan Smith; niece, Katie Smith; along with many other dear family members and loved ones who will carry her memory in their hearts.
Though her family must now learn to navigate a world without her physical presence, they can take comfort in the memories she leaves behind, the lessons she taught, the laughter she inspired, and the love that death cannot erase. Her voice, her humor, her stubbornness, her fiery spirit, and all the little things that made her Kimberly will live on in the stories her family tells and the lives she helped shape. We take comfort in knowing that Kimberly has gone home to the Savior she loved, where earthly burdens are laid down and the promise of eternity is fulfilled.
You were loved more than words can say, you will be missed more than words can express, and you will never be forgotten.
There will be a celebration of life in the Spring of 2027.
