Margaret Ruth Bernardi Farkas

Margaret Ruth Bernardi Farkas, age 99, of Beaver, PA, passed peacefully at home on Saturday, March 14, 2026, surrounded by her children. The daughter of Joseph and Margaret Bernardi, Margaret was born in Oakmont, PA on August 11, 1926. Margaret graduated from New Brighton High School in 1944, and met the love of her life, Abe, in 1945 at the Beaver Supermarket. She worked at the market and on her day off, a co-worker pointed out their new boss and asked her what she thought. She said, “Not bad!”, and had a date with him by the end of the week! Margaret and Abe were married in May 1946. Thus began their 59+ year loving marriage and their family of 6 children.

Margaret was a loving and giving wife, daughter, mother, friend, aunt, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was a very creative woman; she did oil painting, water colors, silk screening, and photography, not to mention partnering with an architect to design her beautiful mid-century modern home, which she loved. Margaret was an avid bridge player and continued to play up until last year. In addition to all of this, and raising her children, Margaret was a member of the onetime Agudath Achim congregation in Chippewa, and was involved in a significant amount of volunteer activities, including the Agudath Achim Sisterhood, National Council of Jewish Women, Beaver County Geriatric Center, and board member of the former Beaver County Children’s Home.

Margaret loved travel and nature. She and Abe traveled extensively to Europe, Africa, Australia, and many Caribbean Islands. After Abe’s passing, Margaret traveled to the Galapagos with her family - a long-held dream.

Margaret was predeceased by her husband, Abe, and her son, Richard. Margaret is survived by five children, Randi Farkas (Eric Snyder), Karen Farkas (Clyde Hurtig), Joseph David, Deborah Farkas (Mary Faria), and Amy Farkas, and her grandchildren Joseph, Felice, Julia, and Neil, and great grandchildren Julian, Simone, Theo, Isla, Darrow, and Sylvan. She will also be greatly missed by her nephews, nieces and dear friends.

Family and friends are invited to gather to honor Margaret’s memory at Campbell’s Chippewa Funeral Home, Inc., 2618 Darlington Road, Beaver Falls, PA 15010 (Randy R. Wheeler, supervisor, 724-843-2500) on Monday, March 16, 2026 from Noon until the time of the funeral service at 1:30 p.m. Interment will follow at the Agudath Achim Cemetery in Patterson Township, located at the north end of 21st Avenue. Please, no flowers. Donations can be made to the Beaver Area Memorial Library, 100 College Avenue, Beaver, PA 15009, or to a charity of your choice.
