Mark R. Utnehmer

Mark R. Utnehmer, 80, of Patterson Twp. passed away on Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at Heritage Valley Beaver. Born March 24, 1943, in New Castle, Pa, to the late Virgil Vati and Margaret Grimes and step parents, Paul and Eva (Wallace) Utnehmer. He was a member of the Patterson Township Volunteer Fire Department since 1969. He held positions of Captain, Secretary, Vice President, Parade Chairman, Social Chairman, and Treasurer for the past 25 years. Mark was also a member of the Steffin Hill Presbyterian Church, Beaver Falls. He served as Elder and enjoyed working around the church. After graduation Mark volunteered for the draft, joined the United States Army, and served during the Cuban Crisis from 1961 to 1963. After his tour of duty, he was employed by J&L Steel Corp. in Aliquippa for 22 years. After the mill shut down, he went to Heritage Valley Hospital and was employed there for 20 years. Mark enjoyed many things, especially fishing in Lake Erie, but his family always came first to him. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Bonnie Cox Utnehmer, whom he loved very much; daughters, Patti (Dewayne) Ryan of FL and Melissa (Phil) Graeser of Patterson Twp.; stepdaughter, Sharon Peters; stepson, Norman (Mary) Peters; grandson, Dillon (Erin) Utnehmer of Salem, Oh, whom he shared a special bond with, as well as four more grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Per Mark’s wishes, there will be no viewing. There will be a memorial service on Tuesday, April 18, 2023, at 7 pm at the Steffin Hill Presbyterian Church, 2000 Darlington Road, Beaver Falls, Pa 15010.
