On April 16, 2025, Wendy Schultz slipped into the arms of Jesus to be made well again after a long, hard-fought battle with breast cancer. Born May 3, 1955, Wendy devoted her life to her church, family, music, children, and a love for reading.
Wendy loved sharing her gift of music and instilled that same love and appreciation to so many others. She taught piano lessons to students of all ages for decades. She directed the choir at First U.P. Church of Darlington for more than 40 years, including coordinating beautiful Christmas cantatas every year.
Her love of music was rivaled closely by a love of books and learning. Wendy took her love for children to a higher level by obtaining degrees in Early Childhood education and as an adult, going to Geneva College for Elementary Education. Wendy taught various age groups in several schools and institutions over the years, including many years at the Beaver County Christian Academy. She could be found reading during any rare downtime she had, and her collection of books could match any given section of Barnes and Noble.
None of these passions, however, came anywhere close to her love for Jesus or her family. Wendy’s faith kept her strong through year after year of cancer treatments and in all of life’s ups and downs. She praised the Lord during good times and bad. She set an amazing example and we will strive to trust and follow the Lord as she did. Wendy enjoyed any opportunity to spend time with her grandkids, taking them on adventures or to try new places. She enjoyed camping trips with friends with family, and could usually be found as close to the campfire as possible staying warm.
Wendy was preceded in death by her parents, Chuck and Janet McGaffick, and by her sister Kathie D’Antonio just five months ago.
She is survived by her husband, John Schultz of New Galilee; her son, Andy Mintier (Dawn) of Smithfield, VA; her daughter, Jacquelyn Barley (Josh) of Enon Valley; five grandchildren - Grace Shaffer; Riley Shaffer; Liam Barley; Zachary Shaffer, Jr.; and Annalise Barley; sisters, Lynn Mummey (Glenn) of Surfside Beach, SC; and Carol Zimny (Ron Moore) of South Beaver Twp.; brother-in-law, Rob D'Antonio of Center Twp.; honorary granddaughter, Mkayla Salopek; as well as numerous nieces and nephews; beloved in-laws; and so many cousins.
Friends and family are invited to gather to honor Wendy’s memory on Monday, April 21, 2025 from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. and again from 5:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Campbell’s Chippewa Funeral Home, Inc., 2618 Darlington Road, Beaver Falls, PA 15010 (Randy R.
